Earl & Rose Hayden - Parents of Nicky Hayden - Named Grand Marshals of Red Mile

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 27, 2019) – AFT Events proudly announced today that Earl and Rose Hayden - parents of the late, great 2006 MotoGP Champion Nicky Hayden - have been named Grand Marshals of the Indian Motorcycle of Lexington Red Mile bringing the exciting action of American Flat Track to the heart of metropolitan Lexington, K.Y.

The Hayden family has long been regarded as American racing royalty - all three sons becoming professional road racers. Nicky Hayden - "The Kentucky Kid" -  showed his versatility by also competing professionally in flat track. He was named 1999 AMA Flat Track Rookie of the Year.

Since Nicky's untimly passing in 2017, a memorial fund has been established to carry on his legacy through donations to children's programs in his hometown of Owensboro, K.Y. The Nicky Hayden Memorial Foundation has funded transportation for the local Boys & Girls Club, purchased books and food for children in need and provided countless resources to underprivileged youth in the area.

In honor of Nicky's memory, AFT Events will donate $1 from every ticket sold for the Indian Motorcycle of Lexington Red Mile to benefit The Nicky Hayden Memorial Foundation.

"It is an honor for our family to be a part of the Red Mile," said Earl Hayden. "Nicky was always very proud of his flat track roots and always considered himself a dirt tracker at heart, even after he won the MotoGP World Championship. The flat track community has always been very supportive of our family, particularly in the time after Nicky's accident. I know having AFT's support of the Nicky Hayden Memorial Fund would make Nicky very proud."

"We couldn't be more thrilled to have the Hayden family join us at the Red Mile," said Cameron Gray, COO of AFT Events. "This family has deep roots in the state of Kentucky and even deeper roots in our sport. We are honored to have them and even more excited to contribute to the Nicky Hayden Memorial Foundation."

Grand Marshals Earl and Rose Hayden will participate in the event's Opening Ceremonies. Former MotoAmerica pros Roger Lee and Tommy Hayden will also be in attendance and participating throughout the day.
