Four-time DAYTONA 200 Winner Danny Eslick to Race Atlanta Short Track

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 4, 2018) – Oklahoma native Danny Eslick, who in March became only the third rider in history to win the DAYTONA 200 four times (Scott Russell and Miguel DuHamel share the all-time record with five wins each), will compete in this weekend’s Harley-Davidson Atlanta Short Track presented by Hellbender Harley-Davidson.

“I really like the track at Dixie Speedway,” Eslick told American Flat Track on April 3rd. “It’s a hard-pack car track, and a lot like the tracks I grew up racing on. They’re a bit slick, and you have to have good throttle control to do well there, so my road racing skills help there.

“I felt really good there last year. I went a little backwards at the start, but then found my groove and began moving up. I got up into seventh or so when the red flag came out for the Mees/Halbert incident, and I think I ended up 8th after the restart.

“I wasn’t really planning to do this, but Johnny Goad called and offered me a ride for Atlanta. Johnny is such a legend in flat track, and has tuned for some of true greats, so I’m honored to ride his Harley-Davidson XR750. I’m going to be road racing at Road Atlanta with MotoAmerica the following weekend, so it makes sense to come down a bit early for a little flat track action.

“My ride for the Atlanta AFT race is sponsored by Russ Briggs at BriggsAuto.com, the Evel Knievel Museum, and Arai Helmets. My road racing effort at Road Atlanta the following weekend is sponsored by Steve Scheibe Racing with support from Hayes Brakes and WD40. I’m definitely excited to be getting back on the dirt!”

Come watch the red Georgia clay fly and see AFT Twins presented by Vance & Hines and AFT Singles riders race for victory at round two of American Flat Track’s 2018 season – the Harley-Davidson Atlanta Short Track presented by Hellbender Harley-Davidson. It all happens this Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Ga., just 30 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta. Tickets start at just $35, and a wide variety of premium and VIP tickets are available as well at showclix.com/event/atlanta-short-track.
