Jake Johnson and Kolby Carlile Looking for Wins at the Legendary Sacramento Mile

PHOENIX (May 17, 2018)– Estenson Racing returns to California for the final leg of American Flat Track’s West Coast swing, the legendary Sacramento Mile, on Saturday May 19. The sixth round of the championship is one of the sport’s iconic venues and has often played host to some great Mile racing.

Jake Johnson is hoping for more of the same in 2018 and to return to podium success at Cal Expo Fair. Although there wasn’t much to be gained on a rough, inconsistent track at Arizona, Johnson could see glimpses of his new steed’s potential. So the veteran on the AFT Twins side of the tent also looks forward to a proper race track where his fast Yamaha MT-07 promises to shine.

As for Kolby Carlile, the defending AFT Singles Champion is eager to get the win on his Yamaha YZ450F. So far in 2018, it’s been a frustrating title defense dealing with injury and some bad luck, but Carlile has put that behind him. He and the team have gone back to the drawing board. Carlile feels that they have what it takes to get the win and looks forward to getting everything back on track on the blue groove of Sacto.

Jake Johnson - AFT Twins #5:

“I keep saying it. We’re going to get into the real tracks here pretty soon. I think now Sacramento is the start of that. It is typically pretty good; at least it’s a consistent track. You’ve got consistent grip, a consistent groove on the track. I look forward to that.

“Arizona was pretty much just survival. Could never really get a clean, consistent set of laps. So I think we’ll go back to our base setup going into Sacramento. Hopefully just keep moving forward.”

Kolby Carlile - AFT Singes #1

“We went back to the drawing board to figure some more stuff out. I think we’ll have a better package coming into Sacramento. I feel good. I’m riding well, and I feel that I’m still one of the top riders in the class. My fitness is on par. All the parts are there, I just need to get it all to flow together – have my body feel good, the bike dialed in and work great all day, and we’re going to be on top.”

The Sacramento Mile will be streamed live, Saturday, May 19, on FansChoice.TV starting with practice at 5:00 p.m. ET, followed by Opening Ceremonies at 9:00 p.m. ET, Heats at 9:30 p.m. ET and Main Events at 11:00 p.m. ET. Catch the race on NBCSN, June  3 at 2:00 p.m. ET. For tickets and additional information about the event:  http://www.americanflattrack.com/events/default/view/sacramento-mile-2018.
