I've thought about doing something like this for some time now. Over the years, you may have noticed me dying my hair pink, wearing pink gloves or parts of my helmet being custom made pink, well all of these crazy things have lead up to me making this big decision.
I've seen my mom go through quite alot of health related issues along with my grandmother and uncle but man I cannot imagine having to deal with everything that cancer deals you. Cancer has taken so many wonderful people in my family, aunt, uncles, cousins, I've seen too much suffering and I just want to give a little kindness and support.
I have a very close friend who's grandmother is going through chemo now and I want to do something special for her. I have partnered up with Barefoot Defiance who has provided me with a jersey made specifically for Breast Cancer Awareness. It is really awesome! I would like to donate/auction/give away the jersey at the end of the race along with donate 10% of any winnings and donations I collect to her for needs and expenses. I've talked to her about this and of course she was overwhelmed with the thought and generosity and asked if I could donate it to someone who could use the assistance more than she.
There is a young lady in Albion which is my home town, who has recently been diagnosed with Leukemia. My friends grandmother has requested that all donations raised be given to her. I will honor her request and make the donation in her name.
