Springfield Mile Action Ready to Resume Today!

Mother Nature put a damper on yesterday’s racing at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, but the sun is shining and the 99th Harley-Davidson Springfield Mile is ready to rock in just a few hours!

The Indian Scout FTR750s of reigning champ Jared Mees, Jeffrey Carver Jr., Brad Baker and Kenny Coolbeth Jr. all qualified fast during yesterday’s rain-shortened program, but there were two surprises. One was Davis Fisher’s fastest-of-the-day qualifying performance over Mees and company on his Richie Morris Racing Indian FTR. The other was Harley-Davidson factory pilot Brandon Robinson, who slotted in at sixth-fastest above the Indian FTRs of Henry Wiles and Bryan Smith. Kawasaki-mounted Briar Bauman and Indian-mounted Robert Pearson filled out the top ten qualifiers.

Gates open for fans at 11:00, practice begins at noon, and racing starts at 1:00, with AFT Twins and Production Twins Semis and Main Events left to run. So there’s a lot of exciting racing yet to happen at the fastest mile in the land.

Tickets from yesterday will be honored, of course, and if you can’t make it to the Fairgrounds be sure to tune into FansChoice.tv for all the action starting at noon Central, 1:00 ET.
