DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 5, 2017) – American Flat Track is pleased to announce a double dose of the Springfield Mile again in 2018, with the legendary event returning on its traditional dates during Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. “The Springfield Mile has iconic status within our sport,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “It features fast and close racing and often plays host to the most exciting finishes in the championship. We are delighted to renew its two holiday weekend dates for 2018.”
American Flat Track witnessed record attendance for the modern era during the 2017 season. Fans packed the grandstands at the Illinois State Fairgrounds to witness another display of thrilling racing on "The World’s Fastest Mile.”
“With the amazing racing that we had at Springfield this year, we are really excited to start planning for 2018,” said Dave Kiesow with Kiesow Racing, promoters of the Springfield Mile. “The TT, Short Track, and both miles make Springfield the place to be Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.”
