Mees to compete against Márquez and Brad Baker in prestigious, invitation-only event

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 14, 2014) - By winning the 2014 AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship, Jared Mees proved he’s the best flat tracker in America right now. On December 13, Mees will be on the world stage for the first time in his career as he competes in the Superprestigio Dirt Track Event at the Palau Sant Jordi arena in Barcelona, Spain. So far, Mees and 2013 Grand National Champion Brad Baker are the only American flat trackers invited to participate in the prestigious event, which brings together an international field of top motorcycle racers from various disciplines. Among those racing against Mees and Baker will be 2014 MotoGP World Champion Marc Márquez. Márquez gave eventual winner Baker a run for his money at the previous Superprestigio event last January.

“Racing in Spain against Marc Márquez and others is an opportunity of a lifetime for me,” said twenty-eight year old Mees, whose trip to Spain will be his first time outside of North America. “I watched video of Baker and Márquez going at it in January. I can’t wait to be in the mix this time around.”

“I never thought it could be possible for me to welcome two Grand National champions in a single Superprestigio event,” said Márquez. “Last January, I learned a lot and had great fun when racing with the 2013 champion, Brad Baker. Now we will also enjoy Jared Mees, current AMA Pro champion and top-class flat-tracker as well. Final race in the Open category, with Baker and Mees on the track, will be superb... I won’t miss it! This pair will make things even more difficult for me in the Superfinal, but perhaps I can profit from the battle both Americans will have!”

Mees, who will run the coveted #1 plate in Barcelona, will travel to Spain with his entire team, including owner Craig Rogers and legendary tuner Kenny Tolbert. Mees will provide updates from Spain, both on and off the track, at https://www.facebook.com/jaredmeesracing.
