Briar Bauman to Ride for Babe DeMay Racing with Support From Yamaha Motor Company and Memphis Shades

Rossville, TN – Babe DeMay Racing is proud to announce its race plans for the 2013 season. With support from Yamaha Motor Company and Memphis Shades Motorcycle Windshields and Fairings, the team will be putting on a full factory supported effort in the prestigious AMA Pro Grand National Championship.

Riding the team’s Yamaha motorcycles will be second year Expert Briar Bauman. Briar, who hails from Northern California, grew up as a prodigy, making a huge splash by joining the Pro Singles series halfway into the 2011 season, winning a main event, and quickly stepping up to the Expert level the following season; doing battle with the best riders in the world. “I’m really excited to join the team this year.” Says Briar, “I didn’t have a lot going on for the year and to get the call from Babe DeMay was awesome. He’s done so many great things in the sport and has won a lot of races. I can’t wait to ride for his team. I haven’t ridden Yamaha’s before, and it’s going to be very refreshing to start from a clean slate in Daytona.”

About his Daytona expectations, Briar had this to say, “Going into Daytona, on my end of things, I know I’m ready. I learned a lot there last year and I have been training very hard to physically be ready for the season. We will be doing a short test before Daytona to get me comfortable on the bike before the national, but I would like to see myself in the top 5 both nights, and improve from there through the season. I know that I am capable of that, but hey, it’s Daytona and as we’ve seen in the past, anything can happen.”

Supporting the team will be Babe’s longtime mechanic, Clayton Shambaugh who has worked with countless top riders over the last 6 seasons. Clayton will be responsible for not only building the powerful Yamaha YZ450F singles equipment, but also the Yamaha Super Ténéré based twins equipment which will be debuted when the series moves on to the bigger ½ Mile and Mile ovals later in the series.
