DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 2, 2014) – Reigning AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Champion Brad Baker will be take his talents overseas in less than two weeks when he faces off against 2013 MotoGP Champion Marc Marquez and several other decorated motorcycle racers from across the globe on January 11, 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. The highly anticipated dirt track event is thought to be an enormous opportunity for motorcycle racing enthusiasts from all walks of life to become more familiar with AMA Pro Flat Track and its exhilarating style of racing.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” said Baker. “I’m really excited about the opportunity I’ve been given. I think it’s really cool for Marc (Marquez) to bring back that race as a flat track event and I’m very thankful to be invited to come over. It should be a lot of fun competing against riders from all over the world and I definitely feel honored.”

It’s safe to say that Baker will be in good company during his stint in Europe. Other than Marquez, among his competitors for the upcoming event will be 2013 Moto2 Champion Pol Espargaro, 2013 Moto3 Champion Maverick Vinales, several high-end Supermoto riders, fierce competitors from Japan and even some of Spain’s very own premier dirt trackers will be in attendance to try and knock Baker off his throne.

“Obviously the plan is to go over there and lay it to those guys,” said Baker. “Flat Track started in America and I certainly feel a little weight on my shoulders in regards to representing my country well in this race. Of course if you’re racing against world champions, especially of their caliber, they are all good racers in general. I think Marc (Marquez) has grown up riding dirt and his talent kind of translated over to his road racing skills. I don’t expect these guys to be any kind of slouches that’s for sure.”

KTM of Spain will supply Baker’s motorcycle for the event and the 20-year-old will bring over his own suspension, supplied by Fun Mart Cycle Center, which he’ll be riding in Expert Singles in 2014. It will be interesting, to say the least, to see how well Baker matches up against international competition in less than two weeks.
