Silkolene Continues Long-Time Sponsorship of Johnny Lewis

COATESVILLE, Penn. (February 16, 2010) - When Johnny Lewis turned pro at the age of 16, following a decorated career as an amateur flat track racer, Silkolene was one of his first major sponsors. Five years later, the premium motorcycle lubricant brand continues to back the pro flat tracker who is making his return to racing at Daytona Bike Week on March 3.

Silkolene was the official lubricant of Team HMC/Generations of Sonoma Wine KTM when Lewis first came onto the pro scene in AMA Supermoto. The following two seasons, Silkolene sponsored the Factory KTM/HMC Racing Team, again in the supermoto series. When Lewis went with his own program in 2008, Silkolene came on board and has been with him individually ever since.

"There are two reasons why Silkolene is important to me and why every year it's a top priority to have them in my program," said Lewis. "Silkolene protects my engine parts and entire bike with the world-renowned lubricants and cleaning materials. Also, I have a relationship with them where I feel like part of their family. When a rider goes on his own at a young age after being factory-backed like I did three years ago and a brand like Silkolene comes along it gives such an extreme vote of confidence. That they continue to back me is even more confidence-building!"

Lewis will compete on a Scott Powersports/DR.D Honda CRF450R in the AMA Pro Flat Track Singles Championship and a custom-framed Kawasaki Ninja 650 in select AMA Pro Flat Track Twins races. Silkolene will be vital in keeping the performance and reliability for both race bikes at high standards.

Look for Lewis at the opening two rounds of the AMA Pro Flat Track Championship on the all-new dirt oval at Daytona International Speedway on March 3-4 as part of the famed Daytona Bike Week. He will be competing with national number 10. In the meantime, follow Lewis on Twitter at www.twitter.com/johnnylewis21 and visit his website at www.johnnylewis.org.
