Briar Bauman Tests Babe Demay Racing Squad Test Prior to Daytona Flat Track

Rossville, TN – The Babe DeMay Racing squad has been working hard to prepare race bikes for the 2013 AMA Pro Grand National Flat Track Series Presented by J&P Cycles, but the work REALLY started this week as the team did their first test with Briar Bauman. Last year’s Saddlemen Rookie of the Year, Briar is no stranger to great results and after the first test, is even more eager to take to the dirt at the famed Daytona International Speedway March 15th and 16th. “The test went great. For the first time on the Yamaha, I was really surprised how comfortable I was from the get-go. The bikes are incredibly fast and the handling is unreal. Clayton and I already work great together and I’m very excited about Daytona” Briar said

Briar has spent nearly his entire racing career on Honda equipment and was shocked at not only how good the Babe DeMay and Clayton Shambaugh tuned Yamaha’s were, but also by how quickly he felt absolutely comfortable on them. Briar stated, “Thanks to Saddlemen seats, the custom seat that they built for me was awesome on the bike and with a few tweaks to the controls we are ready to go. From motors to suspension, the knowledge and resources that the team has is impressive. As a rider, it takes a lot off of my mind knowing that the team is totally behind me.”

Team Mechanic Clayton Shambaugh was also impressed with the test, saying that he believes that Briar already has what it takes to win on their equipment. After some minor tune ups and a good cleaning, both Yamaha YZ450F’s will be ready to run up front at the season opener. Shambaugh is very happy to be working with Briar this early in his career and had this to say: “I was able to watch Briar during his rookie season last year and with his ability and riding style, he is a perfect fit for our team. After a very impressive test this week, I don’t see any reason why we can’t be top 5 in Daytona and hopefully, on the podium. From there we can build, but I know right now, this kid is a winner.”
